I haven’t done a drugstore review in a while.
Truth is that I’m a high-end beauty snob and don’t consistently wear drugstore makeup. Although I’ve found a handful of mascaras & lipsticks that come under the favorite’s category, my story with drugstore is short and a distant one. Whilst playing with some high-end beauties, I made time to trial a bunch of drugstore products past month. I really liked these 4 mostly.
First up is, BOURJOIS City Radiance Foundation in Golden Sun. It’s nothing but a medium-to-full coverage radiance boosting complexion perfector. This is to me, the street find of NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer with SPF. I really like the coverage, longevity, added SPF and soft-focus finish it gives. The oil-free formulation is lightweight, blends easily and feels good on skin. Used Sephora Pro-Full Coverage Airbrush #53 (reviewed here) to apply & powder the t-zone. After back to back testings to grocery, school & shopping runs I could say it’s a good daytime no-fuss foundation and a quickie if you are pressed for time. Unlike my sheer foundations, this shows up on skin and wore throughout the day. I wish if the shade range was wide and BOURJOIS could do yellow undertone (for once). Available at Boots, Max, Lifestyle and Woojooh for AED 79/-.
I have a strong love of body oils. So nothing beats the thrill of finding one that half of high-end price tag. Say hello to BIODERMA ABCDerm Body & Bath Relaxing Oil my newest cult discovery that I’ve been enjoying immensely. This is specially catered for delicate skin of babies & children. Adults can use it too. Because I do as a body oil 🙂 The nourishing dry- oil is soothing & moisture locking. And packed with vegetable oils which are rich in essential fatty acids, apricot kernel oil and sunflower oil. It absorbs super fast, doesn’t stain nor leaves any oil /greasy film. And, the oily-goodness made my post- pregnancy skin soft, moist & supple less than 1 month. Which is seriously amazing? Irritated and sensitive skins can safely use it too as it is Paraben-free, Hypoallergenic and features an excellent skin tolerance formula which is lush.
Another body lotion that I can’t sing enough praises is, the much underrated Eucerin pH5 Skin-Protection Lotion. Rich, thick and incredibly moisturizing lotion is a glorious find from all aspects. I took this with me to the hospital at the time of the delivery. And in return, it rescued my severely dry, cracked and post-surgery sensitive skin just after couple of applications. What I really like about it is that boosted the moisture even after 24 hours whilst soothing the irritated skin. Despite the cream’s thickness it leaves the skin velvety & no oily residues. It’s an amazing body lotion for fraction of price.
Lastly, I have fallen head over heels with Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa Replenishing Anti-Fatigue Sleeping Mask. It’s a genuine gem of a lazy girl’s product. The baby blue gel was go-to product for straight for 2 weeks. My oily-combination skin loved this stuff so much that Kate Somerville Nourish Moisturizer was simply replaced after several tries. I slapped a nice thick layer of this treatment mask as my daily moisturizer and it worked beautifully. Believe it or not, the lightweight texture was rich enough to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day and brilliant under makeup. It deeply hydrated & plumped the skin without zero greasiness. Even as a mask it didn’t ruin my pillow cases. Sinked into the skin fairly quickly. The formula contains Vitchy Thermal spa water and hyaluronic acid which makes the perfect antidote for dry & sensitive skins. Although it isn’t a new product – it was the first time for me and I absolutely love this.
