It’s been over a month since I’ve started testing Guerlain’s NEW Orchidée Impériale Eye Serum*. I think I’ve reckoned what this blue-bottle is capable of and my thoughts below more from a first impression stand point.
I enjoyed adding this lovely eye serum into the morning routine. It is the first thing that goes under my eyes followed by Kate Somerville Line Release Under Eye Repair Cream, BECCA peach color corrector and NARS radiant concealer.
As a second time mum ( and a proud owner of raccoon like eyes – thanks to poor night’s sleep) this serum has become more of a staple in the skin care routine. This is because the thin but rich textured and fast absorbing serum also makes eyes lot less puffy when you wake up the next morning. And one pump is all you need to cover the eye contour area.
To me, it functions more like an instant eye brightening shot. Although the brightening effect is very obvious minutes after application – it didn’t make the dark circles around the eyes disappear completely. But lightened to some extent – say around 60%. Therefore, you cannot overlook the need of a trusted corrector/concealer duo to give you that #iwokeuplikethis eyes and to cover remaining dark patches.
Still, I failed to witness immediate radiance effect or decrease in pigmentation during the testing period as Guerlain has proudly claimed. In Guerlain’s defense this could be that my inadequate sleep has formed severe under eye dark circles. Also, it’s difficult to say if Guerlain’s gold orchid technology had a positive effect in smoothing lines and making them more lifted as I didn’t notice any to be honest!
I find this eye treatment quite useful at the given moment, since I’m sleep deprived and has really bad dark circles. So, whatever the brightening this has offered so far alright with me though I secretly wish if it did miraculously erased the racoon effect for good! In general, it is an all-year around eye serum that instantly brightens the eye area and works well on puffiness. However, the results are very short-lived.From a product point of view I find reviews of REN Instant Brightening Beauty Shot Eye Lift quite close to what Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye Serum does. I’m yet to try REN but it looks like, you’d get to see similar brightening/anti-puffiness results for a much cheaper price! On the plus side, the fact that it is an anti-aging serum (alongside the brightening upshot) that can be layered under any eye cream and makeup is huge, convenient and makes it more appealing to me than ever. Secondly, I begin to believe that Guerlain has finally figured out the essence of using right fragrance content on skin care products as this bottle has no scent whatsoever!
Since Guerlain Orchidée Impériale Eye Serum is the newest addition to ever-growing Orchidée Impériale collection, you hardly find any reviews on the blogosphere. Leave a comment below if you are using / or have used this. Love to know how and importantly if it has worked out for you.
